Nico in Tokyo, 1986

Nico was a truly unique singer/songwriter from Germany who died tragically in 1988 at the age of 50. The music she made sounds like nothing else and her voice is very haunting and distinct. She’s one of my favorites, so I hope you enjoy this rare concert recorded in Tokyo, Japan, on April 26, 1986. [mp3 audio] [mp4 video]

Nico in Tokyo tracklist:

1. Me Heart is Empty
2. Purple Lips
3. Tananore
4. Janitor of Lunacy
5. You Forgot to Answer (not included)
6. 60/40
7. My Funny Valentine
8. All Tomorrow’s Parties
9. Das Lied vom einsamen Madchen
10. Femme Fatale
11. The End

Some highlights of the show are “My Heart is Empty”, “Tananore”, “Femme Fatale” (very Tori-esque), and her spooky, epic version of “The End” by The Doors (watch below, along with the promotional video for “My Only Child” / “All That Is My Own”). The whole show is amazing, though. She’d definitely have an audience these days…
