In a new interview, Antony Hegarty (of Antony and the Johnsons) said:

“Recently, I’ve been thinking that maybe we have three main archetypes within us: the father, the mother and the child. It’s a question of which ones we employ to help us navigate the problems we face. I feel that in a lot of cultures the masculine archetype has forgotten that his primary purpose is to serve and protect the childlike and feminine aspects inside himself, and instead he is holding them hostage. He needs to find his humility and fall back into the service of the feminine.”

Antony and the Johnsons have released a beautiful video from their upcoming album, The Crying Light. The video was directed by Antony’s friends the Wachowski Brothers (The Matrix trilogy, Speed Racer). Nice!

Here are two great live performances by Antony and the Johnsons. Antony’s cover of Leonard Cohen’s “The Guests” is beautiful.
